Otherwise, in survival, they have to be inventory‐edited in or transported from a snowy biome using pistons. Docm77 has a good tutorial for an ice maker in case you want more than a couple blocks: youtu.be/7_E6XGm2lDQ Update: In 1.9‐pre4, the addition of enchantments allows another solution: get a pick with the "silk touch" enchantment and you'll be able to obtain ice blocks legitimately.
